An Overview of Professions: Warriors

An Overview of Professions: Warriors

Guild Wars 2 has a lot of versatility in their classes. The ability to switch weapons easily means that you can quickly change your entire focus.

These series of guides will give you an overview of each profession and explain how the various versatility subclasses benefits from various stats. There will be various community posts and places I will be citing this information, so please check out the sources below for further reading.

Warriors

With the ability to use 13 weapons in the game, warriors have high versatility, but are meant for very
straight-forward approaches. They have the highest defense in the game and are meant for people looking to overwhelm rather than for any subtle maneuvers.

In terms of raw numbers, warriors are one of the most dangerous classes. They will always be able to quickly take down a foe just by hitting them. If they get into a dangerous situation where brute force can't deal the final blow, they don't have many tricks to get out.

For this reason, warriors are easy to learn.

Class Mechanic: Adrenaline

Warriors build an adrenaline bar every time they land a hit. You can use the adrenaline to get in a powerful hit based on the main hand weapon. These skills vary from weapon to weapon, but the main focus is on the damage they will give.

Popular Builds - PvE

These are popular builds to read about before choosing warrior. They list out how to play the class so you can get an idea of the play-style you may need to utilize while playing a warrior.

For warriors, open worlds are not extremely difficult to face. They hit hard and are hard to kill which means they're experts at surviving the world of Tyria. There are more than a few top-ranking open world builds for warriors. As you'd expect, they come with some self-healing, but few utilities.

Here's just one that you can try it for yourself.

Popular Builds - PvP Conquest

For PvP there is less consensus on what warriors should be doing on the battlefield. The most popular build focuses on dealing damage and escaping inflicted conditions such as stun to keep up maneuverability.

As we mentioned before, the warrior doesn't have a bag of tricks. If other players are able to escape the grasp of a warrior or keep them from moving, the warrior is a sitting duck with a big health pool. Keep in mind the range of some of the DPS support classes like Rangers. Inattentive warriors often find themselves killed from afar while focusing on another big health pool in front of them. The distance classes also have a big pool of fun surprises, so make sure to keep an eye on their casting.

Popular Builds - WvW

World vs World offers players two experiences. Either you are in a large group of players (called a "zerg") following a commander (or "tag") or you are with a small party (called a "roamer" or "roamers").

This zerg build focuses on getting right in the faces of another zerg and breaking down their boons (the beneficial orange conditions such as stability). Your job is crowd control to try to keep damage off your allies but within range. You'll be doing a lot of stun.

On the other hand, this roamer build focuses on burst damage and mobility. Not getting caught while keeping any opponents you find on their toes. Of course, whenever you are faced with an enemy zerg, you should flee if possible or make a strategic choice to die to benefit any other nearby allies who might be trying to swipe a camp.
